8. Tinker Picks Recommendations and QR Analytics

When you place an eligible physical shipping order, we use the products in that order and purchase history available through Shopify to generate up to 20 Tinker Picks product recommendations. The first available recommendations, up to nine, may be printed with the packing slip. Purchases from any sales channel may be used to avoid recommending products you already bought, but in-store and point-of-sale orders do not receive a Tinker Picks customer page. Recommendations are selected by our rules and are not paid placements.

For an eligible order, we create a secure, order-specific customer page and QR code. Anyone who has the secure link can open the page until the link expires or we deactivate it. The page does not display your name, email address, postal address, purchase history, or the internal reasons and scores used to select recommendations. The link token expires after 180 days and may become unavailable sooner if the page is deactivated or the related order is cancelled or refunded.

Whenever a successful request opens a valid and active Tinker Picks customer page from a QR link, we count one pseudonymous raw QR scan on our server so we can verify that the printed code works. This count applies regardless of country or your Shopify analytics choices. The raw scan record does not include an IP address, user agent, referrer, country or location, browser or device identifier, fingerprint, name, email address, postal address, or raw Shopify customer ID.

When your Shopify privacy choices allow analytics, we may also record recommendation-page views, repeat visits, recommended-product clicks, cart additions, checkout starts, and purchases. These records may include event time, pseudonymous order, QR, recommendation-snapshot and session references, Shopify product identifiers, conversion attribution, and revenue for the recommended item.

A purchase may be attributed directly through a cart item reference or, for up to seven days after an interaction, by matching the same pseudonymous customer and product. We do not create a browser fingerprint or device profile for Tinker Picks.

The Tinker Picks service stores pseudonymous customer codes, order and product identifiers, append-only recommendation snapshots, protected customer-page tokens, and the interaction records described above. It does not store customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or raw Shopify customer identifiers. Authorized staff may see a customer name fetched live from Shopify while viewing the app in Shopify Admin; Tinker Picks does not retain that name.

We use Shopify to provide store and order data and Google Cloud to host and secure the service. Our private printing and fulfillment integration can receive a pseudonymous order reference, the QR code, and the recommendation list, but Tinker Picks does not send it the customer's name, email address, purchase history, or internal recommendation scores. We do not sell Tinker Picks interaction records.

Shopify customer-data and shop-data deletion requests are used to remove applicable Tinker Picks recommendation and interaction records. To ask a privacy question or exercise a right described in this policy, use the contact information below.
