Tinker Trivia: Did you know that allegedly the Tyrannosaurus rex is one of the most famous dinosaur species? It lived in North America during the late Cretaceous period, about 68-66 million years ago. This carnivorous dinosaur was one of the largest and most powerful predators of its time, measuring up to 40 feet in length and weighing as much as 8 tons! Its name means "tyrant lizard king" in Greek, reflecting its fearsome reputation. Scientists believe that the T. rex had a keen sense of smell and could run at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, making it a formidable hunter. Despite its impressive size and strength, the T. rex is believed to have been a scavenger as well as a hunter, feeding on the remains of other animals as well as hunting live prey.
