What Makes the Candy Blue Mustang So Rare?
In 1965 Aurora marketed "candy" painted Mustangs in red and green to be included in its Competition Pac for the Ford/Aurora Grand Nationals. Around that timeframe Aurora was also perfecting this beautiful painting process on other bodies like the Ford GT and XKE Jaguar in red, green, and blue.
It is believed that a very limited quantity of candy blue Mustangs were run during that process. Today, these cars are highly sought after and command extraordinarily high prices among collectors.
Almost 60 years later, as an homage to this rare car, AFX has replicated the candy blue Mustang GT in a special Limited Edition of 3,000. Each package is numbered and the paint scheme will not be duplicated by AF on a Mustang again.

** PLEASE NOTE : These bodies are made with a new metal flake paint process that is not exactly the same every time. Much like spectra-flame paint on old Hot Wheels, each paint job is slightly different. Some blems or pops or slivers will appear here or there. While some find that annoying, others find a uniqueness that adds value, much like a packaging error may. Others that race will probably never ever notice.
