Ferrari's title is at stake when they come back to Le Mans 24 hours in 1961. Among the 11 Ferrari cars entered in the "Sport" category, three of them are TR61. The two first cars are entered by the official factory and the third one, driven by the Rodriguez brothers, is entered by Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team.

If the engine Testa Rossa remains the same as in the previous version, the body of the new TR61 is significantly modified. Moreover each TR61 committed to Le Mans 24 Hours this year has a different body.

Team car number 10 composed of Oliver Gendebien and Phil Hill has to fight hard against the young team of Mexicans to win.
